Bringing together technical and clinical expertise

Having experienced at first hand the challenges in integrating apps with the GP record systems in use in the UK and getting through the accreditation processes controlled by NHS Digital (now England) and the record System Suppliers, we decided that there must be a better way to achieve this.

That led Ian and Luke to set up xycare in 2020. Passionate about patient care, the staff that deliver that care and the NHS itself, our objectives were to devise a simpler, clinically safe, faster and less costly way for the developers of clinically useful health and care applications to integrate and bring the benefits of their products to patients and the NHS.

We have 10 years’ experience working with clinical record systems in the UK and have become experts in EMIS Web, EMIS Community and SystmOne. Our expertise extends to the management of the clinical system configurations, clinical coding, clinical record system integration clinical risk management, and the contractual requirements imposed by NHS England on data processing in the GP record systems.

We have nearly 30 years’ experience in clinical safety in healthcare, digital and more widely. We currently manage integrations of applications that are used across populations exceeding 11 million patients in England. We have successfully shepherded more than a dozen SCALs through approvals by NHS Digital, now NHS England, EMIS and TPP.
